For all of those who are interested in joining our group please reserve your hotel room now. There are less than 10 rooms left in the block. This means we have more than 30 confirmed. It should be bigger than last year. WooHoo!
Can't wait to see everyone again. The website is partially up. http://www.hillcountryrallye.org/

I'm moving to San Antonio and will be temporarily living with my inlaws in Boerne in March. Unfortunately, my porsche is an 86 930, but I'm still coming by to drool.

Hello Everyone,
If this note comes to you in duplicate or is redundant to one sent previously, I do apologize. I wanted to reach out to everyone, before the time gets too short, to make sure you have seen the Hill Country Rallye website, know that regisration is open, and are aware of the dates and latest status. First off, we have an official, stand alone website this year, thanks to the hard work of Sean Brindley, our webmaster. Even if you aren't planning on coming this year, check out the new, permanent, website at Hill Country Rallye. If you are planning on coming, and haven't registered, please do so today! This year's event promises to be the biggest and best ever. As of today, we have 27 cars and 38 participants registered. The number is growing every day! HOTEL: The primary hotel, the Comfort Inn and Suites Hill Country is fully booked. I do encourage you to call them anyway and get put on the waiting list. They are allocating all cancellations and block releases to our wait list so you will be notified if there is an opening, in the order in which you call and get waitlisted. Alternate hotels have been identified, and are listed on the website. These are just around the corner from the primary hotel so you will not miss any of the action. SHIRTS: This year, we have a different shirt style. It is a long sleeved thermal tee, with a pretty cool logo on front and back. You can see a picture of the shirt, front and back, on the registration page. We do realize at $40 these are a little more expensive than the normal tee shirts, but wanted to try something different. I want to thank Bill Conway for his hard work on this coordinating the effort. Bill has orderd and received a sample of the shirt. The look good but THE SHIRTS RUN A LITTLE SMALL. Bill ordered a large, which is the size he would normally wear, and found it a little snug. If you want to change your size, reply to this mail with instructions and I will update your size, and confirm your change back to you. Also, the deadline to order shirts is March 3rd. We need to have this lead time to make sure the shirts arrive on time. If you are considering a shirt, you can add one now or later, but after March 3rd the option to order shirts will be removed from the site. We might have a few extras at the event at $45 but there are no guarantees we will have your size or quantity. MEALS: If you were there last year, you remember the meals we had were pretty darn good. The caterer who did Saturday's banquet is back again this year, as is the Itanian Buffet. These guys will also be doing our Friday BBQ this year, with an expanded BBQ spread. We'll take last minute registrations, but it gets really painful inside one week for changes with the caterer so we'd appreciate it if everyone would try and get their registrations sorted and in no later than the weekend before the event. DRIVES: As liability is always a concern, it is important for everyone to understand that "the event", also known as "The Hill Country Rallye" is comprised of the hotel accomodations, social gatherings, and meals. The drives are self guided tours which may be grouped independently by the drivers. Jamie Novak is working hard on this and we will have tours and spirited drive routes available to all with options for both days. Maps of the self guided tours will be available as part of the registration packet and are there for your personal enjoyment. We encourage everyone to participate in these drives, which will take place both Friday and Saturday this year instead of just Saturday as in previous years. Safety is always a concern, so drive within your own limits and observe all traffic laws. So, register, come, and have fun! If you have questions, go ahead and submit them via the website, or just reply to me via this message! Best regards, Morrie Hill Country Rallye Registration Chairmen PS- We are still in need of a door prize chair this year. Please reply to this message if you are willing to help out!

Just a reminder that registration is open and will close on 3/18. We set a record with attendance last year and have already passed that number of registrations this year! We are looking forward to meeting some new people and seeing old friends.
The deadline to order shirts is this Friday, 3/8. We are looking forward to another great event and some very fun drives. Hill Country Rallye Please let me know if you have any questions. Here's a picture of part of the group from last year. ![]()

Hello Everyone!
This is one of the last updates that will be coming out for the 2013 Hill Country Rallye. There are a couple key things to know and dates to remember, so now seems like a good time for a reminder, but first some stats on registrations as of today! (if you have not registered, go to Hill Country Rallye today and make your plans!) Registered attendees: 67 Registered cars: 911: 27 cars 912: 10 cars 356: 9 cars 914: 1 car Some of the locations folks are coming from: North Carolina California Colorado Mexico Texas! Hotel: Alex, the hotel manager, is trying to reach out to all registered attendees to make sure that everyone who wants a room has one. The hotel has a few rooms that have been cancelled by folks other than HCR attendees that Alex is holding for our group, so if you do not have a room, either call the hotel and ask, or send me an e-mail with your contact number and I will have Alex call you. Special things to look for this year: Friday is now a full day with driving tours! Security courtesy of the city of Boerne for our cars! Multiple drive tour options! Complementary car wash station! Great food and drinks! New friends and different cars! Here are some very important dates to remember: Friday, March 8th: Last day to order shirts. We will be removing the shirt order option from the registration page on the 8th as we need to place our order with the shirt supplier. As mentioned previously, based on our sample shirt, a size Large, we feel the shirts are running a little on the small side, so please send me a mail if you have not already to let me know if you want a size change, again before this Friday. Monday, March 18th: This is the last day to register for the event. We need to align with our catering company and get registration packets completed. After the 18th, if something changes in your registration, use the contact feature on the HCR website to request an update and we will do what we can to accommodate. Thursday, March 21st: This is the informal start to the event. We plan to leave the hotel as a group around 7pm and head downtown for dinner on the square. IF YOU PLAN ON JOINING US FOR THIS, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS MAIL AND LET ME KNOW. I am working with the Boerne Visitors Bureau for some reserved parking on the square, and if we have enough interest there may be an informal car show for the public announced so folks can come out and see the cars. Friday, March 22nd: This is our first driving tour of the event. Drivers meeting is planned for 8:30am in the hotel breakfast area, followed by the tour leaving at 9am. We plan to return by around 4pm after a drive, lunch, and a brewery tour. Event check in and packet pickup will be open at 5pm Friday evening in the hotel meeting and conference room, with BBQ dinner in the hotel parking lot (weather permitting) at 7:30pm. You will need your dinner ticket from your packet to eat, so make sure you have registered for the right number of people so nobody goes hungry. After dinner we will be showing a fun movie in the conference room for anyone interested. Beverages and snacks will be provided here, and throughout the event, as a part of your registration. Saturday, March 23rd: We will have two drivers meetings for Saturday. The first meeting will be at 8:30am for the spirited drive, the second at 9am for the hill country cruise. The drives leave at 9am and 9:30am respectively, both including a lunch stop and a few more stops for tours and interesting sites on the cruise. The drives will return to the hotel around 4pm, with happy hour starting at 5pm, followed by the banquet at 7:30pm. Sunday, March 24th: No planned events as everyone has their breakfast, packs up, and heads for home after a great weekend with friends. As always, if you have any questions, please send me an e-mail here, or through the website, and I'll do my best to answer. Remember, this is an all volunteer event, operated by your friends and fellow car enthusiasts. We do our best to accommodate everyone. Please keep your eyes open for ideas on what we can do to improve for next year, and what you like from this year. We'll be looking for volunteers to lead drives both Friday and Saturday, so keep this in mind if you would like to help there also. Best wishes, KTF, wheels down and see ya'all soon! Cry your hearts out, exiles and unbelievers
Here is a quick look at the turnout this year, over 50 cars with 60+ enthusiasts in Boerne for a firs ever three day event. Hill Country drives on both Friday and Saturday, with two spirited run groups and a tour group each day. We all visited Wineries, Micro Brewers, and other points of interest.
One of the pics below is of the only RRtunnel in Texas, now a functioning Bat resort. I am sure that others will join in, a few with a video or two as well. Make your plans now, we are trying to hold a event in the fall this year, depending on the interest levels... Pictures on my next post, I have to move to a laptop to do this. Too damn hard on an iPad... ![]()

Nope, nothing stolen this year. Also, this year we had off duty police on site at the hotel all 3 nights to insure nothing happened while we slept.

2013 HCR Recap.
Wow, Another year of the Hill Country Rallye (HCR) has come and gone. This is event number 12 over the past many years. It is hard to believe that we have had so many years of good events, good people and good luck. In many cultures the number 13 is bad. Consider that many people have Triskaidekaphobia (look it up) even dating back to the early 1900s. In our case we did nothing to stay away from 13. In fact, neither did anyone else that attended the HCR13 considering our number of attendees was more than double last years. Have you ever wondered what goes on prior to one of these events? First, there are some emails and phone calls to decide a date. Then you have to get hotel rooms and setup registration. Then estimate people and find food to feed them. Then plan the routes and events so that people have a good time. Then print a bunch of paper such that you can give them out to participants hoping they will actually read what you have to offer. Usually, this last part about paper packets happens late on the night before the event. Nothing like planning months in advance just to stay up late stuffing stickers and route sheets into envelopes. At least beer helps. Here, you can see that I am drinking a local fresh beverage while the other guys work. Huge thanks to all the hands that helped put this together. Special thanks to Morrie, our HCR chairman; Sean, our HCR webmeister; and Bill, our shirtmeister. (I guess I can also thank me, the tourmeister considering no one got lost during the HCR). Despite the late night prior to the event to clear email and prepare to leave work for a few days we managed to leave on time. ![]() This was the first year we added an additional day. This meant that Thursday afternoon was a travel day. Leaving Austin we had 4 cars headed toward our rendezvous in Boerne, TX. There were others coming from Austin but due to other commitments we took different routes. At least we found a few good roads to travel down. It was crazy windy on the drive South. We had enar 35mph sustained winds due to an approaching cold front. Here are two shots I liked. The first is the three tunnel and the second is the one-lane hill. Now for those of you reading this from out of state take a look. We have green trees and green grass. This is prime driving season and infact, we are coming to an end. Soon, the heat of summer will take over and everything will be brown and drab as it is water starved. ![]() ![]() Eventually, we arrive at our destination and realize that we… need more beer. For those who have not attended you should know that registration includes quite a few beverages. HMM Let’s go to the store. Wait, I need a shopping cart. The SWT will have to do. ![]() This store the aisles were a large enough to drive down but they would have frowned upon that. At least my shopping car has a handle. ![]() The next morning we got up and started our first drive. The HCR was split into 3 groups leaving about 15 min apart. We do this to make things a little more manageable and prevent backups at gas and food stops. Friday was good except for some local traffic. We managed to stop at the top of a switchback ridge line for a quick break. ![]()
