"Oakland Porsche" License Frame

I've got a "Oakland Porsche" license plate frame. I've been in the SF Bay Area all my 62 year and never heard of "Oakland Porsche".

Was there ever a Oakland Porsche dealership or independent shop? Thanks

In one of the manuals in my 997, the is a dealer directory, and Oakland is listed. Don't know the exact address off hand, but Livermore, since being new wasn't yet in existence in 07. So you have Sonnen, Stead, and Livermore covering the north and east bay.

Livermore=Oakland

Livermore Porsche is the old Oakland Porsche.

When Porsche was mandating the redesign of their new buildings my understanding is that the City of Oakland balked at their signage requirements and threw a lot of red tape at them so they closed the Oakland dealership and moved it to Livermore.

Like Paul Harvey used to say "Now you know the rest of the story".

My car has numerous stamps in the maintenance book reading "Dealer #0121 Oakland, California".

If the frame goes up for sale I would be very interested!

I live about 15 miles from Livermore Porsche. The next closest are Michael Stead in Walnut Creek, Carlsen in Palo Alto, Sonnen Porsche in Mill Valley and Fletcher Jones in Fremont. Then there are

At one time there was a Martin-Johnson and then their was another that started with a N - both shutdown years ago. But I can't remember a Porsche Oakland.

Actually Carlsen is now listed as Redwood City, isn't it? It used to be in Palo Alto. Anyone know if that was just a bit of gerrymandering that resulted in that change? Or did the dealership actually physically change locations?

Hey, at least the City of Oakland should be happy all the signs within city confines conform to governmental standard. Tax revenue is way overrated.

PCA77GR, Going to have to work back in time for this one. If memory serves me Martin-Johnson sold to Negherbon, a family run Lincoln Mercury, Chrysler Plymouth dealer in Oakland. In the late 90s' Negherbon Porsche Audi wound up as part of the Connell group. When that went away (economics) Porsche was run as Oakland Porsche. Oakland closed and Fletcher Jones opened a franchise in Freemont which never had a Porsche dealer. Anderson-Behl was the next one going south in San Jose. The Livermore dealer is actually from Berkey Porsche/Audi that was in Pleasanton. Berkey passed away and the dealership wound up as a Chrysle Plymouth dealer.
Noah930, Carlson was originaly in Palo Alto when Porsche wanted to upgrade there dealers it moved to the presant location.
There is a lot of good Porsche history in the SF Bay Area....
Jonny042, I hope PCA7GGR is willing to sell you the Oakland frame. It would be great to re-establish the connection. I've been looking for a California Porsche/Audi frame for a while, mine was sold in S.F. from that dealer.

cpa,

Negherbon was the "N" one that I remember but could not for the life of me get the spelling close enough for a Goggle search.

I bought an Audi from Berkey Porsche/Audi when they were in Hayward a week before they moved to Pleasanton.

It seems that you have solved the Oakland Porsche puzzle - it tenure was so short lived that few of us "locals" remember its existence.

Thanks you
