what is the right combination of adjustment on the levers to get this to work!

If I am correct, outside air is thru the defroster vents and the floor vent bowtie

You can get a little heat thru the side vents on the dash, but that's about it, unless you turn on the A/C...

Our cars are wonderful but even the Yugo blew fresh air on your face! And if you do turn on the A/C, it is really like blowing fresh air on your face anyway. Not much colder. But gas mileage would suffer. I think a good idea would be to design a small hood the length of the vent and have it curved to blow fresh air on you when the vent air fan is turned on. You could use Velcro and paint it the color of your dash. You could practice with cardboard then move up to a thin metal. Nick

I have thought of adding a bypass switch in that would allow me to switch the AC blower fan on without activating the A/C, just so I could get cabin circulation and that air on the face.

Remember when you were a little kid and your Grandmother would help you blow out the candles on your birthday cake? That is kind of like the A/C vent system in our 3.2 cars!

After pulling the A/C out of my car, I dug up the bits so that all of the vents routed fresh air into the car.

Fresh air only goes through the defroster vents or the footwell vents (directly above the feet).

A/C goes only to the center vent and bowtie.

Heat goes to the defroster vents, footwell vents, and side vents.

Mine has a switch on the door for fresh air in the cabin. Actually 2 switches on the driver's door and one on the passenger door. '88 911.

non AC vent

I did this last year to my SC but my AC has been deleted.
The only part I had to buy was the one in Frank posted in reply #18, I also had to make one linkage rod but it was easy, and also rubber plug some holes.
Not sure how to do this while retaining AC

Retrofitting non-A/C ventilation ducts

Good point I am in the process of doing a custom AC set up on my 74 (rotray compressor with carbs and a large condenser in the turbo tail) and will be adding some center vents in the dash or in a custom center console. Additionally try to blend some AC to the windshield and side windows through upper door panel trim. Can you tell I'm a tad spoiled due to my past / present BMWs. I may end up needing to do some dash cutting but I feel its worth it. The car is not stock so I am not concerned about cutting on it. Fresh air blend would ba a good thing as well. Getting some dry cooled air at the windows really helps eliminate window fogging until the inside climate influences the glass temp.
