Whale tail repair experiment....

OK all. I have a whale tail on my 911SC and the rubber lip was pulling away from the glassfibre tail due to rust (on the right side). While I do have an Oxy-Acetylene welder, which would have made short work of this repair, I wanted to attempt to repair the damage with common tools, and stuff you could readily buy in a store. I got my ideas from Look what I did!!! The ultimate Whale Tail Rubber stud replacement. but wanted to see if I could make it easier for folks who don't feel comfortable with welding. Here are my attempts to repair the damage in stages, and in real time. Stay tuned! So we start with the damage, and pics of the gutted lip in the affected area...
