My 911 vs Taurus SHO - NO Go!

I normally don't give anyone the time of day when they attempt to street race, but this was more of a road rage incident than street racing.
On my way home I am in the slow lane since my exit is the next one, and up on my ass comes this new model Ford Taurus. Instead of going around me, he rides my bumper flashing his headlamps at me...so I stay at speed (70mph) and take my exit. This is where I get pissed...he passes me via the shoulder of the road and damn near clips my front bumper when he cuts back! I follow him to the next light where he just happened to be going my way...so I gave him a little dose of his own medicine. I basically followed him and the more he attempted to pull away I just got closer, then I pulled up next to his (SHO/SVT Tuarus) and play with him for a 1/2 mile or so...then a single downshift and I race past him effort free!!! By no means is my car the fastest car on the street... but the Taurus was all SHO and no go!

Don't get me wrong...I do not follow, participate or support street racing! Keep it on the track and drive safe.

I hate it when people do that. Lucky thing the road rage didn't get out of hand because it can escalate very easily. Most of the time it's just best to ignore these idiots.

If someone rides my ass, I just gun it and get the hell out of the way.
The biggest problem is, my car stops a lot faster than theirs does, and I know if something happens, they have no chance of stopping as fast as I do.
I was thinking about an LP holder that says
"Goes Fast Stops Fast

Don't ride my ass"

If someone rides right on my A$$$, I either briskly move over for him and don't let him pass OR I just apply some boost and leave them for dead

That REALLY frustrates the ***** outta them

What p!sses ME off is you're sitting at the lights and a van filled with a buncha losers comes up behind you and the driver plays with his throttle & brake to try and intimidate you by scaring the beejezus out of you.

Anyone have that happen to them?

Roadrage is really a crazy thing; we all know better and usually I just let people go by if they want to, but sometimes tailgaters can make me lose temper. I had a guy in a new Acura riding 2ft. behind me @ 70mph on 10 freeway a while ago. I just slowed down and down, (one foot on brake and one on gas), until we were going maybe 30mph. My fuse was lit and I could have killed him at that moment, just snapped his neck, I was in 911 and it's a nice car and shiny, but I didn't care at the time. Crazy, I know, but when someone is using a car as a weapon I react in animal-mode. He eventually went around looking straight ahead, I had grown horns at this point and really wanted him to look over or better yet pull over. CARAZY!

k9handler,

Aren't you in the PD? Surely a flash of the badge would scare the bejeezus out of someone playing games like that on the road.

Adam,
yes I am although I have no authority here in the city...I am a military cop.

Chris,
Yesterday was pretty warm and yes the Mocal was working well...never topped 200 the entire day.

Have fun in Farmington, and make sure you update us here with the event happenings.

H.D.

Checked out the car show yesterday, pretty minimal Porsche turnout.
My 82 911, Brandt's SC, a white SC and a 2001 Boxster S.
Lots of street rods & muscle cars.

My car is screaming for a new oil cooler. It was about 100 deg. on the way home. The hwy back to Durango is a remote one, so naturally I pushed the car hard about 100 mph most of the way home...oil temps were HOT, a needles width above the 248 deg mark..arrrggggggggh! Mocal install is Tuesday.

Not sure if I will make the autocross today, heading out early this am for a 90 mi bike ride (up to Coal Bank pass from the house and back). If I get back early enough & its not too hot, I may head down there.
