EDIS TPS part number that fits an SC
 
Searched for a conclusive answer and then just hit the junkyard. BMW part # 1363-1721456 will fit on the shaft of an SC throttle body and is a TPS, not a switch. If you are willing to sacrifice your throttle switch, the hole for that is exactly the diameter needed for the BMW one. It will not go all the way down, so I put some spacers to make the switch plate sit up and I had to grind off part of the plate that has a tab that is part of the switch. TPS was $2.00 at the junkyard.

Also got EDIS modules, a VR sensor, EDIS coil packs and spark plug wires from a Crown Vic that have EDIS ends and long spark plug ends that will fit the 3.0..

Lot's of time to wire things up as my engine is apart for valve guides.

Any rate, I have searched endlessly for a TPS part number - couldn't find it, but the above works - and it's a TPS for sure - verified with my multimeter.

Hope this is helpful for somebody going to EIDS.

I don't know for sure. If I had to guess, I would say yes as the part that "fits" is the butterfly shaft to the sensor - the rest has to be cobbled together. I doubt the shaft changed from SC to Carrera, but can't say for sure..

Saw a few used one on ebay for around $20

Based on the ******** database they're on nearly all of the BMW cars between about 1992 and 2000, which is apparently "E36" series.

Since you just did this...how did you remove the original switch? I yanked on mine a few times and it didn't budge, so I wondered if there was a trick...

An early to mid-90's BMW of almost any model TPS will fit the C3.2 TB shaft.

It's been a while since I took mine off - have had EFI for fuel for a while. There are two screws or bolts that hold the switch to the TB. Remove those and the electrical connection and pull. It's a tight friction fit.

Interesting, but everything I have seen is that the E30 series had the simple 3 position clicker style TPS (like our cars), while the E36 had the variable version. Our hosts lists them as being the same for both series. I know that there have been other mistakes in the catalog here.

After a bit more research, I think that it's actually the fully functional version listed for both, which means it's the deal of the year...especially since all of the 911SC megasquirters are gonna buy them out now that you found that ;)

Same part is in the E36 section. Think it was E30 with an Auto trans that used the TPS. I actually copied the link from the E36 section - as you say, heck of a deal..

While we're on the subject, you can get a pigtail harness for it as Standard Motor Products S-745

Picked up this TPS from our host, and verified that it is a full angle TPS, not just a WOT type switch.

The 3 pin connector that plugged into my stock switch fits this TPS, which means no need to buy a new connector, just feed off of the 3 wires in the factory harness.

I need a 1.5 cm thick spacer to mount this on my factory 911SC throttle body.

I realize I typed that poorly, I needED a spacer, mostly info for anyone else who wants to use this TPS, that the standoff is approximately 1.5cm.

Mostly, I was verifying that the TPS sourced by our host is the same as the variable one you found, and that for $47.25 shipped, it's a screaming deal. The fact that the factory harness will plug into it is even better.

Time to add ignition and see huge improvements to PT cruise tq and MPG's!

13-63-1-726-591-M375 - easiest way to be sure is to search for the E36 models - only some of the E30's used this one, the rest of the E30's used a switch, which won't do what you want.

Hey, did you source an airbox yet?

IF NOT, message me. I'll set you up with the exact stuff you'll need for an EFI conversion, AND I'll toss in the spare TPS that i have (the correct one). That way, you're not spending money to buy and ship all sorts of CIS stuff that you don't want anyways, and I get rid of my spare airbox, intake runners, throttle body and TPS...

:D
