Clutch helper spring

Hey all,

Making good progress on my 1978 911 sc Targa rebuild.
I have rebuild the pedal cluster and run a new clutch cable as well as the coupler rebuild from the "coupler whisperer" himself. Thanks Ed!
My Question is when I went to replace the big helper spring in the rear (grommet #4)
just crumbled away. So before the reinstall I went to order a new one from our host. When you go to the diagram guide on the side here is says 3 are required for the 911 sc (non turbo). But when I look at the attached diagram #4 shows just one grommet. I ordered three and not a big deal but it does seem very bizarre or strange just to sandwich three of the grommets one on top of the other... Has anyone else done this and if so, what did you do?
Thanks,

Gary

I think I had the other two sandwiching the clutch fork.

Off-topic but related: The early '78 (like my own) has a small pin through item number 13 that you must drift out before you can draw it off the post (#2). You will note the small "ear" with the hole to the rightmost in that drawing of #13.

Just a heads-up to you.

Only used one in the location in your diagram.
I would guess it is to keep grit out of the shaft/lever.

Locations.......

Gary,

You could put the three (3) seals at the following locations:
between 1 & 2.
between 2 & 13 ( as shown)
between 13 & 18.

Installed dirt/dust seals some 20 years ago. They crumble to pieces when they get old and brittle.
