What RPM does peak torque occur?
'88 3.2 Carrera:
What RPM do peak torque and peak horsepower occur (assuming stock) ? Discussion at lunch among DE Instructors...one says he upshifts at a point where he is at peak torque in the higher gear. Another calls BS, says quicker acceleration occurs when the car is shifted at peak HP. What say you?

Peak torque is in the 4800-5600RPM range
Horse power in the 3.2L Carrera increases steadily till it peak out near 6000-6200RPM You really don't want to shift till you tap out on HP, this allows you to go much longer between shift points. If you shift at peak torque you'll go trough more gear shifts to achieve a target speed. Bottom line is to stay put in gear till you tap out on HP.
