Fuchs faux-anodizing - what silver paint?

Looking to refinish my Fuchs petals to simulate the anodizing on the rims. I've seen several references to using Rustoleum "Brilliant Silver Metallic" followed by their clear coat. But I'm having difficulties identifying this "Brilliant Silver". I've found a "Silver Metallic" (#7271) that has "Brilliant" in the description on the label, but not in the color name. Is that what people using to replicate the clear anodized finish are using? Or something different?

I used Rustoleum #7271 Silver Metallic on my centers - looks pretty much like bead blasted raw aluminum and it has held up well after 2+ years.

Do what Jack did.

The matt/satin finish looks looks pretty damned nice. Clear coat is optional. I personally would skip the step.

I will look tomorrow for the exact name, I think you are right with Brilliant Silver Metallic, which is different than standard Silver Metallic. The "Brilliant" is so shiny that you have to use the clear just to dull it down and it also gives it nice depth like anodize.

Thanks, jax. The other two Rustoleum colors I've seen referenced are #7718 ("Chrome") and #1915 ("Silver Metallic"). Both are described as "reflective" in the often-linked "silver paint shootout".

Why not take a look at the Mercedes Benz "brilliant silver". The color code is 744. Nice very popular color so it will be around for a very long long time.

The problem with most silvers is that the metallic grain is too coarse. I've tried several. Nice silver color, but not a good substitute for clear anodizing. I really like the result that jax911 achieved (as shown above), and am hoping to be able to replicate it.

Still hoping to get a part number of paint that looks like jax911's picture posted above. I'd prefer not to have to buy three or four cans of different silvers to experiment with if others have already been there.

Try Krylon dull aluminum

I actually had some Krylon Dull Aluminum on the shelf, it's not even close to matching the anodized finish. Too gray, and too dull even after clear-coating.

To match the anodized rim? I've used Wurth silver on BMWs in the past - great paint, but it had a pronounced metallic grain which is not what I'm looking for. Based on what jax911 has posted elsewhere, I believe I need a "reflective" silver paint - something that has very fine or no grain to the metallic flakes. For example, take a look at the first four paints on this page - Silver Paints

Maybe try a chrome spray paint and then a clear coat. I don't think the paint would be nearly as shiny or reflective as true chrome and a clear coat might soften it. OEM finish is anodised over polished wheels so you might get close?

That's kind of what I'm leaning toward now. I was just hoping to leverage someone else's experience and not have buy two or three cans of some shiny chrome-like paint that I will likely never use if it's not the right look for my Fuchs.

There is no paint that looks like polished anodized aluminum.

The closest you can come to replicating a stock finish is by using the paints described to recreate an RSR wheel. Dull aluminum, satin black.

I have never seen any silver paint anywhere that produces the mirror-finish of anodized aluminum.

Oh, I know it won't be perfect, but the results jax911 got with off-the-shelf rattle cans (see blue car posted above) is close enough for me. Or take a look at some of the hyper-silver painted wheels on late model cars - you have to get awfully close to be able to tell that they aren't anodized.

Here's another picture jax911 posted in an earlier thread - I'd be happy with this.
