I've been looking for the same but in reverse direction (LA to NY) and have been getting bids on Uship.com.

I've not actually shipped with them yet but others here recommended the site. For a palleted engine with liftgate pick up and delivery I get bids around $500.

I had my entire 911 SC shipped from New Mexico to Long Island NY for $700 last week.
The car arrived undamaged, just pretty dirty traveling through snow storms.
Not sure if they do freight or just cars.
AXA Transporting.

I used Yellow (YRC) two years ago to send my old 3.0 from GA to MA. Just make sure you get the weight right, because the bid is based on the info you initially gave them. They were courteous, prompt and reliable. You also have to tell them in advance if you can forklift the pallet into the truck or not. This is especially important for residential pickups.

SHip

What about Uship.com. I have some cars moved before that way. You put in your requirements ship to ship from and describe the load then shippers bid for lowest rate. Most times trying to either combine a load or move something on their return haul. You will get some high bids right away then after a day or so they start getting more realistic.
