Passenger Door Won't Lock - 1986 Couple

Today the passenger door on my 911 stopped locking. I've tried endless fiddling with the key and the handle and it still won't lock.

From other posts, it sounds like there is some socket inside the door that has popped out. Does that sound right? Does Pelican sell the replacement part? Any tips for opening up the door to access that? Thanks!

Hi CiscoSF

If you can still lock the door with the key or the interior door lock knob then it may be the Central Locking Operating Rod (964-537-571-00-M100). If it is you should hear a click when operating the central locking.

I still hear the click but the external part of the mechanism doesn't move.

Right now nothing makes the door lock -- pushing the button, turning the key, or turning the interior knob.

Yep......it'll definitely be that plastic ball "socket" at the top of the rod that Concestor0 pointed out. The adjustable plastic "socket" most likely has gone brittle and has broken apart. This makes the link to the lock mechanism.

Porsche no longer makes this part which consists of multiple parts. They have an updated part which is one complete molded plastic arm. Pretty cheap at the dealer.........around less than $15.00 IIRC??

Relatively easy to replace. The most time consuming part is removing/re-installing the door panel and its related parts.
