Alternator Belt Size Question ...
Sorry for a basic question, but what is the difference between a belt size 9.5 x 710 and a belt size 10 x 710? I assume one number represents the length (710 ?) and the other is the width (9.5 ?) but can someone please confirm that.
Just wondering because I have some 10x710 belts but the manual for my '81 SC calls for a 9.5x710. Can I use the belts I have or do I really need the 9.5x710? TIA |
Anybody ?

You're right, the 9.5 and 10 are the belt widths in mm. The 10 mm should be fine. Because it's wider it'll ride a bit higher in the pulleys so you might need an extra shim.
