Go out to your local general aviation airport and speak with the A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic or most any aircraft owner who looks after their own aircraft. They can recommend good products and good practices.
I used to use Permatex Plastic Cleaner but there may be better products available now. Dan |

At the air taxi we used Pledge furniture wax. Mirror Glaze has a product also.

Windshields should be polycarbonate on a track car. Other windows can be polycarbonate, acrylic (e.g., Plexiglass brand), or PETG (like Vivak brand).
I use a polycarbonate windshield from Five Star back in WI. Great product. I usually use Plexus for cleaning all windows. Sourced from Hoerr Racing Products. I also use the Novus products and Brillianize depending on circumstances.

Do they make a clear film to protect the windshield? Similar to the ones for protecting headlights.

Pledge is what we use.
3M makes a clear vision film. I've bought it before at window film stores, it's anti-graffiti film.

Dust is your enemy with Lexan.
I always start by blowing it off the best I can with an air nozzle and get the majority of the dust off that will just come off. Then I use Plexus as it will clean the lexan and protects it a bit. It's also supposed to have "anti-static" properties so it doesn't collect dust as easily. Although I'm not sure I've seen any large differences. Regardless, I use it on my lexan and on my motorcycle helmet visors as well. Does a great job. But things will last longer if you use a light amount of air and blow the lexan off prior so you don't trail dust around on it as you clean it off.
