Porsche Crest NEED HELP opening jammed 911.

Hello. ive just acquired a 77 911.
its a sad story.
i couldn't see it rot any longer. This car had been sitting for over 15 years.. odometer reads 000628. so it was a must grab after a while of saving. But due to the many years, many things have deteriorated.
Now for the part i need help with.
I need tips on how to open.
A. Hood.
B. Driver door(if there is a way to take inner panel off with out being able to access phillips head screw on inner side of door for upper door cover)
C. Engine trunk...

any insight will be much appreciated.

Man, that was a tough 628 miles! Ouch!

For the hood & trunk, have an assistant wiggle the appropriate panel whilst you gently pull/push the release. Penetrating oil where you can squirt it.

Oops, good plan but won't work on the engine lid without cracking the door.

On the door, penetrating oil in the outside handle to free the trigger and/or key mechanism. Pelicans seem to favor PB Blaster, but whatever you got should work.

If it's the latch, it's attached up in the forward rear wheel well with goofy 12 point "Torx" type bolts, but your Torx and Allen wrenches will only serve to bugger these things up. Get the correct socket, clean out the holes, remove the bolts and the whole latch mechanism should fall out when the door magically swings open.

Good luck! Looks like a lot of work.

if you don't have to move it far, you could carefully remove the trim around that broken windshield, pop that glass out... then you should be able to open the doors from the inside....

What's the story behind the car? Just curious. Welcome to the board by the way!

Porsche Crest

Thanks! glad i found this forum. seems like lots of helpful information.

story of the car. im 3rd owner of the car. 600 miles came from the original owner. the second owner the person i acquired it from drove it home, did not like the way it drove and so it sat for over 15 years. If you take notice of the first picture above, not only is the car covered in moss on the north end, but he had the driveway paved around it. this is due to the fact that it has 4 flat tires. Lifting it was quite the process... :/ the car had a tree fall on it. hence the damage across the hood window and fender.

the vin is 9117302406. far as i can tell that signifies that its a (91)911 from (1)america (7)1977 and (240) made to run on inferior fuel? i think... if any one can give better insight on that it would be grand...

As for getting in the car. The passenger door works. so i have access to the inside.
can i get the inner door panel off with out access to the top philips head screw on the inside of the inner(upper) panel? the one that meets the window. The out side handle clicks in. i can even put my keys in and turn clockwise, ccw does not budge. when i turn the knob to unlock from the inside the lock button comes up slightly but not entirely.
this is the screw im talking about. just on the drivers side door with no way to access it.

thanks everyone.

From what I have seen, NO, you can't get the door panel off. There are two allen bolts that hold the top of the door pull to the door that are right behind the top panel. If you wanted to break something, sure it's possible.

A few things jump out at me-

1. Front valence with indent for Euro plate- was that factory?
2. What's with the widebody and turbo tail?
3. Note the paint flaking on the rear quarter- could that be signs of a respray after flares were added?

Looks like you have quite the project ahead of you! I bet some soap and water and a fresh set of rims/tires will do wonder for the driveway appearance.

Let us know when you're ready to show us the engine/interior!

Good luck- thanks for saving one...

I've had a locksmith break into my car several times when I locked the keys in it(at the track - don't ask)
the stainless strip on the outside of the window pops off (its on little plastic pop rivets that usually come out unharmed) and you can get some access to the rods that control the pop-up lock and trigger rods.
Is your door stuck shut, or is the locking mechanism not working.

Most of these cars will flex a little when you jack them from the factory jack point, causing the door position to change slightly. Maybe if you try this you can wiggle the door free. It's worth a try before you start cutting.

I'm not 100% sure but if you go in thru the wheel well you will see the nuts holding the lock mechanism to the door pillar. Maybe, you might be able to remove these wich might loosen the locking claw foot mechanism just enough to wiggle the door open. getting the door open is what i understand is your first objective. After that everything is accessible ie: that little screw.

77 had a galvanized tub, might have helped it keep from rotting away? Tony.

Almost like child abuse. Hopefully the car will have a good home now.

Well, you've got your work cut out for you, but you've come to the right place. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Oh, and P.S. You need to assume that the SPEEDOMETER has 628 miles on it, not the car. No one would do all those things to that poor car and then only put 628 miles on it.
