911E Engine Availability
 

As I wait for my new 911E to arrive I've had lots of time to mull over engine options. It has a '73 2.4T in it now. What are the chances of finding a complete '70 2.2E MFI engine these days? How many arms and legs would that cost? :)

As far as arms and legs, my 911T has taken all I've got.

Unless you get incredibly lucky and find the "matching number" engine, it's probably not worth the expense and trouble. My '70 911E had a '78 3.0 and it went like a bat out of hell. And the Webers were easy to maintain. I saw no need to change. That's just me, though.

I think I would be lucky enough just finding a 911E engine for a reasonable dollar! I could probably buy the components (long block and MFI system in pieces) off of Ebay for $12k but.....

there is a lost and found post on the registry, you could try and find your original engine there. Meanwhile most plug in a 3.2 or 3.6 back there. A lot cheaper and more power.

Slippery slope though. Add a tranny, clutch and new brakes to start....not saying I won't go there.:)

...and don't forget to upgrade oil cooler, Torsion bars, sway bars and mounts....

1974 911 - What's it worth?
 

Bergo has a 74 with a 2.2 located. A 74 really needs the 3.0 or 3.2 so it may be worth a PM. It may be carbs but it is a 2.2. Maybe check the numbers? Best of luck.

My friend has a 2.4 Mfi he might want to sell/trade.
Let me check it up.

I'd be looking for a 2.2 MFI - 911/01 s/n starting with 620 0001 or greater if I am not mistaken.
