Thanks for the kind words, Shawn!
You guys from Alberta were a big hit with everyone in attendance. I'm very glad you and Bryn made it home safe and sound in the trusty Targa. And thanks to all the other Pelicanheads-SCWDP'ers who attended. BTW, as soon as I can snatch up a bit of time, I'll post some event pix on the Round-Up website.

Hey Shawn - I too am glad to hear you made it home in one piece.
A reminder to borrow that digicam and head out to the psycho doctor's house. email and'or post pix here of what you find. For those of you listening in....a nutty doctor in town has what may be a very special car parked and deteriorating in his yard. If it turns outto be genuine then action has to be taken..... At the risk of turning this into a "I'm getting two free 911's" thread, we'll just leave it at that for now. Ah yeah....and ask Bryn if the half litre of trans oil in the speedo hole really applies to my A1. I looked and the speedo cable looked to enter the trans pretty low down.

The roundup was absolutely great, Doug and Joan did a great job of orgainizing and putting on this event. To those that missed this, you missed a great time. The route through the Fraiser River canyon was a blast. Everyone in attendance seemed to have a goodtime. I'll attach a few pics of the event later. Pat

Yes, for those of you who missed out, the Inagural SCWDP Round-Up was a fantastic day, and evening....
Doug and Joan, thank you so much for all your hard work, and particularly Joan for putting up with all our Porsche/Engineer speak at the after rally party ![]() Now, if we can just get that Island guy to get started on next years "Tour de Rock", the Can-Am sequel to the now-famed SCWDP Round-Up! Stay tuned, there are LOTS of pictures to be seen... ![]() I'm going to have to vote the Duffey Lake road as my favorite part of the drive ....tight and twisting along the river....

Nice shots, Pat.
A little bird told me your fuel pump went south as you headed South. Hope JW made it all better when you got home. And dammit....thanks to you and Suzi, I now have a bad case of 930 envy!

Doug, fortunately it was only a relay, with a little phone help from JW we were out of the duty free and on our way home in less than an hour. I've learned my lesson always carry spares and a way to test them. Again, sure had great time, saw the pics on the SCWDP website, the BB is lookin mighty fine...... We had a great night at Whistler just walking around. Joan was right there's some pricey real estate up there IE a .41 acre bldg site for 4.6 Million, little out of our league......P By the way I've got some additional picts you can post let me know how to get them to you.

Amir,
That is Island911's car. The wheels are polished Fuchs if that is your question. I think mine look better though ..see profile.I wish I could have made the round up. I was busy replacing front wheel bearings. I found some interesting stuff in my right hub. I'll post that one later.

I wish I could have made it to the bash.
Unfortunately, I was held up with a small problem...no brakes! The paint shop kept the car an extra two weeks...so the last week before the roundup I was working frantically on the car. At the last minute (late Fri night) I found the front calipers were not working (seized). For about 10 seconds I thought about going with rear brakes only then reality set in...mountain roads...new (to me) car....bright red paint job (guards red)...speed...freash air...NO...could imagine myself spread all over some rocks! So...no run for me....you cannot imagine how bad I feel. Please post all the pics you have...at least I can see the good times you had....and next year...or later this year...she and I will definately be out on the road playing! Glad to hear everything went well. Bob

Hi again
Now I'll let you guys know how my 77 with a 2.7 handled the 3000km roundtrip. Temps only got over 230 once (not bad for HOT weather and mountain roads. DRIVESHAFT- I lost a driveshaft 6 hours into my trip. 3 of the 6 bolts that hold the driveshaft on slipped out, and the other 3 snapped! Bryn and I got put it back on and used 1 bolt from the other side. Even better considering I am a dummy and didn't have spare bolts with me (home in garage) and NO JACK!! So we pushed the tire up on a rock to have access. FUEL PUMP- My fuel pump started making a buzzing sound that would go up and down with RPMs, so I am thinking electrical like a bad ground. STARTER- My starter went south on the trip home, so for the last 600 day whenever we shut her down we had to push start it. Looks real good in a Porsche ![]() So lessons learned- Bring spare everything! And I thought I had lots packed , and even if you breakdown meeting fellow enthusiasts is worth it!Jasper I will get those pics this weekend. Shawn

Geez...what a trip that was for you. My starter packed it in once on a trip to Las Vegas....There we were, push starting our Porsche in front of the fancy hotels. On top of it all, I forgot to pack the big foam L's so we had to hold our thumb and forefingers up to our foreheads in the shape of an L instead. It made it real hard tp push the car!

Just to let you know the other Alberta member made it home today. 2800 miles through BC, down to Seattle, (dropped in to say hi to JW), then through the rest of Washington, Idaho and Montana, then back home. Car ran perfectly! Temps hit the high 90's in Central BC, Washington and Montana. Surprisingly, the A/C kept the car reasonably cool.
Thanks Doug and Joan for organizing everything (now I know what you mean by a "spirited drive!") and to everyone else for the great company. Glad to hear you mad it back ok Shawn. Tim |

I went to the site.... looked at the pictures.... almost cried.... then I just smiled.
It makes me sick to my stomach... about how I missed out on all of the putting faces to names, handshakes, smiles, world domination, beer drinking, beautiful scenery, and memories. I spent a total of about $5 or 6K bucks on my car trying to get it presentable for the roundup... I worked on it non-stop from the day I got home from the desert. I pushed my budget to the limit by having the gearbox rebuilt and buying the car trailer.... just so I could come to the Roundup. But this is how life goes. I need to be with my dad. I can't replace this time. ![]() It looks like it was an absolute blast. I envy every one of you. Boy I sure would love to come if you guys ever do it again. ....Oh..... and Shaaaaaawn.... I really hope you weren't one of the "I can't believe you bought a car trailer" guys... THAT is the Exact reason why I wanted to tow my car.... I have terrible luck. Sorry to hear of your troubles... but it did make me chuckle. Cheers,

Leland we missed you there too. But I agree time with your Dad is way more important.
NO I wasn't one of the "I can't believe...." But I have to admit that the "breakdowns" that I had were honestly some of the best parts. Nothing like being FAR away from home and having to fix whatever happens. I was with my brother-in-law and it made some great bonding time. I actually wouldn't change a thing ![]() Tim glad your home safe too. I have a nice pic of your car I will email you. Glad your AC worked the whole time Shawn
