Clutch Pedal Question
Just took my 88 Cab out from the garage after winter and after a week of drive the Clutch pedal doesn't come all of the way up. Shifting is fine but every not and then the travel of the petal stops. I then have to pull the pedal up about another two inches.
Did the cable stretch over the winter? Is there a spring somewhere? Does the pedal need to be oiled? Whats the Deal? ![]() |

It's a hydraulic clutch. A good bleeding, which is a PIA on this trans, and inspect for leakage. The Rez connection for the clutch fluid is quite high up on the brake master so make sure to keep,it filled! Use fluid from a new unopened container.

The problem is most likely a work cross shaft to the clutch fork. The clutch fork cross shaft has needle bearings and they wear causing a sticky pedal. The issue is sporadic, but eventually it will bite you.
The fix is a cross shaft upgrade (bushings vs. needle bearings). The cross shaft upgrade is about $200. Installation is the remove the trans. If you do not fix it; you run the risk of breaking the trans case (big $$$) or the pedal assembly cross shaft will break. It is a must fix - don't wait. |
