Just FYI: For those of you that have not seen it before, Speed Channel is airing the Porsche episode of Victory by Design tonight at 9:30 e.s.t. just after this year's 24 Hours of LeMans highlights. I think the show is a few years old by now but has some good footage of all type of Porsches.

A little OT, but ranting...
I really used to like Speedvision (errr Speed Channel), but it seems that the takeover/new management (did it?) has changed the formart to all NASCAR. Everytime I turn the thing on it is circle track racing. With the occasional WRC.
Don't get me wrong, I worked in CART and IRL for 4 years but I love road racing. I remeber they used to have shows like Britain's Motorsport Mundial, crazy old Euro race footage, insane Aussie semi tractor road racing (you gotta love that), touring cars from around the globe, etc. Man I miss that. My favorite was "Lap of the Gods". One lap around F1 tracks, incar camera only, turbo era hp! I know that the good ole boys make them a lot of money, I just don't like it. PS- After my morning workout the other day I saw them run and old edition of Car & Track that previewed the new '73 (4?) Buick Grand Sport. They praised its handling while showing it almost swap ends in the slalom and push like mad through evey road turn. You gotta love '70's Detroit thought.

I, and probably most of the people on this board, agree with you. It is very frustrating trying to find the good stuff on there any more. But their website is good for finding the shows I am looking for. Like the ALMS race Saturday and the World Challenge races on Sunday...I wonder if and how the ratings have changed since the NASCRAP incursion?

"Lap of the Gods" is an unbelievable show - if you ever get the chance to see it I agree it shouldn't be missed.
Another favorite of mine from SV was "Legends of Motorsport." I wonder what Speed TV has done with all that footage. Since this thread was originally about "Victory By Design" I have to give another plug to that. With-out a doubt that is one of the best all time Porsche shows ever made. For anyone who has yet to see this one, you definately don't want to miss this one.

i agree, speedvision is not what it used to be... there is a show shot up here in canada called "dream car garage". i used to love it, but for some reason they have changed the format and its just not the same... i wonder if they were forced into it by the speedvision people, hmmmm...
if you have a chance to see the "victory by design" which deals with ferrarri, watch it... it is also very good.

I love that show, and the best thing was there was the 24 hours of Le Mans highlights before it.
I was awesome to see Buckler (sp?) from the Racers Group win the GT title!!! 24 hours of Daytona, and 24 hours of Le Mans was to go Dude (and all the people at Racers Group). The question is did the drivers Porsche lent them make the difference? There is no subsitute (unless the R8 becomes street legal). ![]()

that was a great show! Makes me even more impatient to get my own Porsche! BTW, I'm one step closer since I just sold my bike!
