Switching Alternators

Hello Everyone. SmileWavy
Quick question.
Can I swap out my Paris Rhone alternator and replace it with a Bosch unit without complications?

Subject car: 1984 3.2 Targa :p

Thanks in advance.
Larry

If the bosch unit is a rebuilt replacement, it is probably a paris rhone too. There have been some concerns regarding the quality of recent bosch rebuilds though.

Larry,

I concur with drtyler. Probably not an issue to swap out, but there are too many threads with dissatisfied customers regarding Bosch remanufactured alternators.

On the other hand, there are several threads on having our originals rebuilt at excellent prices with excellent results. I recently followed through this way. YMMV

Local shops tend to do a better job than the store bought remans. The problem is finding good quality parts. The remans typically use cheap China made parts.

I think this says it all.
Thank you.

Most Bosch stuff is crap today. My last Bosch fuel pump lasted 18 months. The original lasted 45 years. I avoid anything with a Bosch label now.

Find a local rebuilder.

Right on to this. They are seriously lacking now. I wonder why?
