For Those who have gone or know about the USGP Indy F1
well my friends and I plan to go on to the race on the weekend of sept 29th
we plan to meet in chicago on friday...hang out with some friends and then sunday morning drive down to indy for the race. I know you get better coverage at home, but I just want to be there in person to witness it once... so can people who have been there tell me if this is a good plan...I worry about the morning drive, but I think we should be fine. I think it is a 3-4 hour drive from chi town also tickets...should I buy grandstand tix or gen admissions? should I buy on line or wait for the scalpers at the door? anyone who has had suggestions that will make our trip smoother...it will be very appreciated thanks MJ |

I've been there the 2 times, try to get a seat on turn 1 or between 1 and 2, you'll see most of the action from there. I couldn/t tell you about scalpers.
Bring an umbrella as weather is very unpredictable (remember F1 runs rain or shine different from the left turners). Lots of fun, make time to visit the museum (do not leave it until after the race as it will be hell trying to get in after the race). The best seats (for me at least) are on J Stand. If not, try H or NW vista. Don't waste your time by being on the straight, nothing to see there, just really fast cars going by, no passing, .... I think there is a Corral for PCA set up, check Pano for info. Juan

Scalper prices and selection were good last year. I usually park in someone's yard (paid) in the residential area nearby the track. It's not too expensive. Other then that there's real no secret. Even the general admission tickets that some how sell out on are good for viewing in the infield on Sunday. Leave very early. It's nice to be there and avoid the rush and traffic.

There are scalpers with bricks of tickets. I got 4 in a row back a bunch of rows across from the Sauber pit last year for 30 or 35 dollars each last year. There will be tickets.
