seat thoughts

I have an '87 911. I do 3 or 4 DE events per year. That has turned out to be the primary use of the car at this point, but it is, and always will be, 100% street legal. I've done nothing radical to the car. Elephant Racing poly bronze throughout, heavier torsion bars, 7s and 8s, etc.

I am going to step up to a DAS bolt-in roll bar 6 point harness, and appropriate seats. I love the look of the older seats, and think the Vintage Seats RS seat would be the one I would go with if I went that route. (The harness with those seats has been blessed by the PCA region tech guy.) The non-vintage look choice would be a Recaro Pole Position.

I'm looking for you thoughts.

Thanks,

Tut

I dont do much DE but I have the sport seats in my 944 and I really like the way they hold you in the corners compared to the stock seats I have in my 911 and 924S. If you can find some one locally who has them I would give them a shot and as it will keep the car period appropriate if you care for things like that. I also like the look of the RS style seats but I have never sat in them so I wont speak to them very much.

However in all honesty if it were me I would use the money for other upgrades long before seats. Maybe a chip for the engine, or some other performance upgrade.

Regards
Dave

Dave,

Let's just say that I'm a little too bulky for Porsche sport seats. I'm going to be at The Glen in a couple of weeks for a DE and I'll be asking a lot of people if I can sit in their seats.

A Steve Wong chip and cat bypass are part of the planned upgrades.

Thanks

Harness ruling

Hi, its a problem for most classic looking seats. We have addressed it since 2007 with our "Trips"harness guide. To bolted from the rear to our seats,so you maintain the classic look and can be legal once going to the track.Works on all our seats even the Lollipops- we need to know at some when we build them like the Sport S which is not that much used for track events.

Tut- Pole Positions are not made for those with a bulky physique. I am 5'10" 170lbs and they are tight, especially across my upper body.

I have seen the GT Classics and they are sweet!
