Clutch pedal travel question
I have a '75 911 and I replaced my clutch cable a coulple months and several thousand miles ago now I am noticing that my clutch pedal does not release all the way to full back position. When I say full back position I mean in alignment with the brake pedal when neither one is depressed. If I want it to line up with the brake pedal I have to pull it towards my foot. I can depress the clutch pedal and feel about a two or three inch area of "free play" before I can feel the tension begin in the cluch cable. Is something out of adjustment? Did something fail? Any ideas?

If a simple clutch adjustment doesn't do it, the cable may have a few strand's that have failed. Some times the release fork in the bell hosing starts to distort and give similar simptons also. Start with adjusting the play out at the release arm. If you run out of adjustment you may have to adjust, tighten the clutch cable at the pedal crank attachment as well.

Kind of normal. If the engagement point is comfortable, what's it really matter? If you adjust the cable tighter, the engagement point will be higher.

It's normal for the pedal to not return all the way out when you take your foot off it? Don't remember it being like that.

The Bentley recommends adjustments when car is warm.
It recommends setting free play by tightening the cable nut till 15-20mm max play at the pedal. The pedal travel can be adjusted by moving the metal plate on the floor board. The adjustment for travel is not given in distance, but adjust till reverse gear can be engaged easily. If this does not work, Dick Shift's post comes into play. There is some adjustment available at the pedal crank. Check to make sure the pedal bushings and springs are in good shape.
