Fuel filters compatible?

79 911SC. Ordered fuel filter from pelican Bosch part number 0 450 905 079. Didnt check mine before ordering, come to see that my existing one is 0 450 905 016. Are they compatible just different size inlet/outlet? Has anyone been able to make it fit or do I have to order the same part number? I've read some posts but can't find a definitive answer except for people saying to just order one with the same number.

koolkozak,

I made the same mistake ordering a replacement fuel filter in the past without checking the old filter. Here are the fitting sizes for different fuel filters:

0-450-905-003.............14 mm/14 mm (inlet/outlet).

0-450-905-016.............14 mm/14 mm (inlet/outlet).

0-450-905-021.............14 mm/12 mm (inlet/outlet).

0-450-905-079..............14 mm/12 mm (inlet/outlet).

In my case, it was the other way when I ordered 14/14 instead of 14/12 size filter. The solution was to replace the adaptor at the outlet from 12 mm to 14 mm since I had the adaptor already.

For your case, you have to decide which way you wanted it corrected. Get the right fuel filter or install the appropriate adaptor. If I could go back in time, I'll would choose the filter that I like and start from there.

Assorted adaptors (below):

Tony

I did the exact same thing when I first purchased my 79SC. Ordered the "0 450 905 079" filter only to find out it didn't match, so I returned it and ordered "0 045 905 016".

Yaa, except now you cant return it because it came with a warning which said to check your original part number before placing an order. I hope NAPA or autozone has the adapters.

Pelican had that warning when I bought mine too. A phone call was all it took and they took it back and refunded my money 100%. Maybe I got lucky, but the great customer service is one reason I continue to spend my money here.
