Disconnecting connections... '85 Carrera
Hi guys.
I was just looking at the connections that are under the metal cover, between the back seats. I want to clean them to see if my tach problem (working on and off, back on when I hit a big bump, as I noticed yesterday...) is related to a bad connection, which I'm pretty sure of. So there's two connections : ![]() ![]() As a very amateur mechanic, I was not able to disconnect them. The white one (first picture) has two little pins that are flush with the unit, making it hard to push to release the connection and the 'double connection' (second picture, the one I'm pointing) seems a little tricky too to disconnect. Any ideas guys. I just don't want to force and break anything. Just can't stand anymore this tach not working... and I'm sure it's nothing to fix. Nico

Your looking in the wrong place. The 1985 uses a signal from the DME to the tachometer, bk/v wire. The black wire is for the upshift light.
The brown and green wires in the tunnel are from the speed transmitter on the transmission to the speedometer. You can pull the tachometer out and check the connections on the back to make sure they are clean and secure.
