Your input on my 67 softie
Hello from So.Cal. I need to have some feedback on and idea. I was reading up on some of the amazing builds on Pelican. Many of the images were gold to me not only for reference but also for motivation. I am a big fan of Tilton's work and the way he finished those deep sixes, Mr Tilton you are an artist. I am finishing my hearts the same way but here is where I need everyone's .02. As you know the Targa bar is brushed, the dash is as well and the rims make 3. But what do you think about all having all the bright work finished in brushed nickle instead of chrome continuing with the brushed theme?
Now this tangerine Targa is not an S, it was originally red and has an engine that is a '67 but not the one original to the car. This is my first Porsche restoration and I have most of it myself. Will I ruin the car considering everything is visually stock in appearance? What is the consensus? Thanks http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367818746.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367818759.jpg |
I think it is your car, so you should do what you want with it. Purists may not like the brushed look, but as long as you are not going the concourse route, who cares.

looks good for a targa, and i don't like many, but the soft windows look great. your well on your way, keep it up!! Perfect in red

Car looks great, I'd leave the bright work alone the wheels, targa bar and dash are good enough.

Keep the entire car stock.
People who value a 67 soft window Targa don't do it because of the big tires, huge horsepower, or original aesthetic touches. They value it because the car is a time machine, the first year of the Targa, with all the quirkiness and unevolved spirit that is characteristic of the SWB cars. The color change and the non-matching motor, while not perfect, are pretty close, and are certainly the kind of mods one would find in the period. As such, I say keep it stock. |
You can do whatever you want to your car as long as its tastefully done..
..somewhere along the line,...as if it would of be done 'back then'..;) |
I originally thought that the brushed trim look would be really cool, but after reading the post of 304065, I rethought it. A softie targa is really a rare bird, and the mods you've done are tasteful. Keep it simple.
