3.2 intake project, question
My buddy and I (he's the talent, I hold the light and take pictures) replaced the intake gaskets and spacers (61,000 miles) a week ago (car runs much better) and during the project we noticed oily grime in some of the intake ports:

Also noticed this oil in the fitting that connects to the throttle body: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps6133e871.jpg Anything wrong here? Is that grime in the intake okay? Excessive? Normal? Car runs great and seems to use no oil. I've had the car since December, put almost 2K miles on it already. |
That looks like the hose that connects to the oil tank, and that looks like moisture. If it is, essentially, moisture builds up in the breather hoses in sort of a foamy oil fashion. It's sort of a thick oily foam in the breather tubes. Mostly it's from the moisture that builds up in the oil tank.
If you were to check the portion of the hose that has the reducer in it (I believe the SC and on 3.2, I may be wrong on the 3.2) you would notice a ton of moisture at the neck of it. I clean mine out every oil change to reduce the amount of crap that builds up. Do you tend to see a lot of moisture in the oil filler cap as well? |
Filler cap is clean. No goop buildup.
