Porsche Crest Seat Belt Warning Light - Where to get one?

Hello
Does anyone have a spare seat belt warning light?, or even an old junky one?
Part number 944-632-213-00-OEM - discontinued

Our 1988 911 Carrera (73k) is perfect (pic below) and original however the seat belt warming light just exploded one day and somehow I lost one half of the red lens (bottom half) which use to read " Seat Belt" or something like that. I have the top half, need the bottom half to finish the puzzle. Otherwise having the random 3 lights on the dash with no cover is sort of annoying.

Thanks for any leads or ideas on how to fix it.
Joe

Amazing - Precisely the same thing happened to me just today - Seemingly out of nowhere the red lens "exploded" with the bottom half disappearing and the top half intact. Must be the ol' warning lamp lens bomber at it again!

I might have a spare from my '84, if it's the same one. Lens is intact, not sure about the bulbs and such. I'll try to look for it tonight.

I do have a spare, but that has shown me that there are at least two versions, as my spare is different than the one in the car. The spare has the word "BRAKE" spelled out, while the one in the car has only pictograms.

I wouldn't be surprised. I suspect the one in my car now is the later replacement, and the original is the spare. The spare one has obviously been used.

Hi all,I know this is an old thread but I was wondering how to remove this part from the dash. It no longer works and would like to install a voltmeter of some description.

not as easy as it should be - pull a couple of gauges and do the reach around to push on it

when it does not come out, keep pushing on one side or the other, top or bottom

you will eventually see a small black tab on it - push that down with a small screwdriver and keep pushing while mashing down every tab you see emerge

it will come out in a couple of days of this

if your car is fairly new it will be easy

note that the dash has 2 layers of sheet metal so cutting is not as easy as it might appear

Thanks RWebb, thought as much.

Not intending on cutting anything on the car. Probably cut up some off the shelf item to fit the original hole,

Something like this but maybe a bit more subtle,

You can also pop the lens off the front and see the little tabs Rwebb is referring to. Might be able to get a tiny screwdriver in from the front to release them.
You can also replace the bulbs if you want to make it work.

crdik915, you wouldn't happen to know the corresponding VW part number, would you?

Thanks

Also, if anyone has any of the 3-segment lenses, I could really use one! I would be happy with either one of Arne's pictures above. I have the "wrong" one right now, that I could trade - it has the seat belt light on top, and two brake lights on the bottom.

Bottom seatbelt transparent window

Hello all, this sure does seem like a common issue!

I need the bottom cover, or window, or " the thing that illuminates when the seatbelt is not secured".

Does VW have an adaptable part? Part number?

Any other options?
944? p/n?

thanks...

If anyone has one laying around, I could use it as well. My current one functions fine but the front plate lens is just gone.
