Running Rich? : Elevated RPM at idle, smoke
Hi all, I've been getting help on this from DRACO. I think I'm running a bit rich. My Fluke Voltmeter arrived and I am going to test the voltage at the O2 sensor today, but it seems to come and go.
Most of the time I idle at around 780, no smoke. Car runs fine. When hot, SOMETIMES, it will idle slightly higher, closer to 1k RPM and blow a whitish gray smoke out the tailpipe. I thought initially it might be valve guides, but I tried the whole compression braking thing and I don't get any smoke. The problem definitely comes and goes, and sometimes alleviates when I rev the **** out of the engine. Any pointers running down the list of things to check?

Does your idle hold steady or does it oscillate up and down with a period of 1 sec?
Like this video https://youtu.be/NzKxIjdSFS0 Oscillation is a sign of running rich.

Sometimes it will bounce. But the scenario where it blows smoke basically it elevates from a steady 780 to 880. Then starts sending out smoke that smells like fuel. After running for a while the idle goes back down and the smoke goes away.
Also. When that is happening and I am driving and disengage the gear, the revs will catch at 1200 to 1500 or so then drift down
