Swepco 210 ! good?
A couple days before my last track day, I drained my trans and filled it with Swepco 210 (two-ten). I was running Valvoline 85/140, as my transmission seems to like the heavier fluid. For reference, I normally change the trans fluid after every track day.
In short, with the 210, it shifted like crap. It was hard to get into first, and hard to get it *out* of gears. Last night I drained it and filled it with the Valvoline stuff again, and shifting returned to what it was before. Is Swepco 210 totally wrong for a 915 or what?

I was hoping someone would compare 210 to 201 to something else. Have you tried SWEPCO 201 in your trans?

Actually, I prefer the Swepco 212 with moly that Pelican now carries ... over the thinner blue 201 or red 210. I used the gold-colored straight SAE 90 201 back in the Garretson days ... with great results!
Was the Valvoline a conventional variety, synthetic blend, or full synthetic SynPower?

I have tried 201, which I put in just after I got the car. Shifting improved a little, but the Reagan-era fluid that was in there probably didn't help, nor did the little dog teeth that came out with said fluid.
When I had it rebuilt, they filled it with 201. When I started autocrossing the car, I changed the fluid, and put in normal OTC fluid because that's what I had available. Shifting didn't change. Just before my first track day, I put in 201. No change. On the next fill, I used organic 85/140 - shifting improved over the swepco 201. I tried Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil last winter for a month or so of street driving and a track day. The transmission didn't have the same 'feel' as with organic fluid - it was noisier, and it seemed like I could 'feel' the shifts more, like I could actually feel the parts moving when I shifted. So, now I'm back to organic 85/140. I might try the 212 next. At $40/gallon, these can be expensive experiments!

Give 203 a shot. From what I hear, the difference between the 201 and 203 is that the 203 will offer better protection against overheating.
