This spring when I un-garaged my '86 911, the a/c blower switch on the console doesn't seem to work when switched on. Was working, (last fall) and the only things I DIY'd were removing and replacing front seats (re-upholstered) and installing a fresh DME while seats were out.

The manuals seem to indicate 2nd fuse from left in the front luggage area operates the A/C and "seat adjustment". The seat adjustment part makes me nervous as I unplugged and replugged the various hook ups under both front seats and maybe even mis-plugged the passenger side hook-up at one point.

The fuses in the front panel all seem to be OK.

Any ideas what to check next. I'm only slightly capable of DIY, but I am hopeful and thanks for looking!

Just a thought,... I've had A/C problems in the past where some refridgerant leaked out but not depleated but since this was a long winter perhaps ALL of the refridge has leaked out. So... If it is all gone does that override the blower fan and prevent it from fanning-up?

I would be checking the connections on your seats. Sounds like you may have something reversed or misconnected.

Yes, double check your work. As a general rule, always suspect the last thing you messed with when trouble shooting a new problem.

All connections seem OK with no blown fuses, so I'm hoping the system is
so low on refridgerant that it is preventing console fan switch from coming on. Will repressure system next week and hope for the best, thanks

Well further to my problem, today we had the freon (new stuff)
refilled/pressurized but the a/c fan still doesn't fan-up. Wont kick in the compressure.

In ideas where I should look next?? Fuses all seem OK. Perhaps I need a new compressure?

My 86 911 had an additional AC fuse in the smugglers box, not sure it was factory, or an add on but you could take a look and see if yours has an additional fuse.

Also, pull the #2 fuse out of the holder, and clean up the contacts on the fuse and the holder.
It may not be making a good connection. Also, If you look on the underside of the fuse box cover, all the fuse locations are labeled, so finding the AC fuse should be easy.

There is a relay with a fuse on it in the smuggler box that is probably bad. I just replace mine. A cheap fix

There is a relay on the right hand side /smugglers box (passenger side) but has no fuse in it.

No place for fuse in my relay, got any pics?? Thanks

My fuse was was not part of the relay, it was tied into the wiring harness. Follow the wiring harness to see if there is an additional fuse.

I had an issue with continuity at the main fuse block, pull the fuse, and clean the connectors where the fuse inserts into the fuse block. Get some fine emery sandpaper and clean up the contacts really well, insert a new fuse, and see if that works. As I recall it was a 30 amp (blue fuse).

As I said yesterday I found a relay in the smuggler box (non-fuse type) and today
found a new relay in some spares that came with the car so I tried it and EUREKA!! Problem solved. Thanks again for the info from ya'll. Now I'm ready for some 90 + temperatures
