I have replaced all the engine belts because the engine belt light came on. The light is still on, do I need to replace the belt tension sensor. Should I get a new one or can I get a used one. 964/1989 porsche carrera c4 3.6

Is the switch depressed with the new belts installed? Check the see if it needs to be adjusted before replacing it. Especially if it wasn't on earlier.

The belt sensor is actually a sensor for a broken belt. If both belts are still intact there is something wrong with the microswitch inside the belt sensor.
You should get a new one because you'll never know how long a used one has been on the previous car. Or just jumper the connector and replace the belts regularly like every 2-3 years for street use. Older 911 don't have them.

no adjustment on the sensor. must be a bad sensor. bridge the terminals in the plug and see if the light goes out.
