Your car is on fire! (but not really)

Had to tell you guys this story.

Sunday was the local Caffeine and Octane car show. The forecast was for miserable downpour. Normally there is something like 400-500 cars that show up. Well the weather wasn't as bad as predicted. My buddy calls me up and tells me to get my arse out of bed and come over so I did.

Got to the show. There were less than 50 cars there. Lots of folks showed up and then left because of the poor turnout. We hung out for an hour or two and then decided to get some breakfast. Over breakfast we were talking EFI -- he's putting EFI on his Datsun 260Z and was telling me I should do the same on the 911. So we got into a conversation about CIS.

After breakfast we went out to our cars and I started the 911 and popped the rear decklid. We're standing there talking at the back of the car for - I don't know - maybe 10 minutes or so when my buddy looks up front and says the car is on fire!

Well.. brief panic on my part because of course I'm thinking it's entirely possible so my heart skips a beat. When I looked around the passenger side of the car it dawned on me why he thought the car was on fire.

Remember I said it was a rainy day? Well the wheels, wheel wells and the oil cooler were wet. When the engine heated up a bit, the oil cooler in the front fender started evaporating the water and it looked like smoke coming out from under there.

It took me a minute to stop laughing and then I had to explain what was going on.

Thought you guys would get a kick out of that story...

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

That is exactly what I was afraid of! I've seen TOO MANY of those kind of pictures on here. First thing I thought was fuel line.
