I thought there was a law that fake convertible tops could only be installed on Cadillacs.

Thumbs down

I think most of the folks here at Pelican feel that one should make one's 911 as he/she wishes.

IMHO, the car above is an exception; for one to put a faux cab top on that car is most sad.

In my home this evening there was a moment of silence for the 911 that the car above once was.

Disturbed but still smiling,

Kurt

Keith, perhaps your esteemed publication could consider a back-page "Shame File" for such abortions as this. I have seen some truely appaling things done to p-cars lately.

Bugger the SCWDP, I'm thinking of starting a (Royal) Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Porsches. The (R)SPCP

Hey.. If you look at the picture.. I think this is a targa that's been covered in convertable top material. Doesn't it look like the "top" is not one piece, but two? (look at the roof line, particular at where the targa bar would be)

It looks like what he's doen is reskinned a targa top in canvase, and then stretched canvas over the rear window to leave a "hole where the normal convertable top window would be.

I kinda like the canvased targa top idea, but WTF on the covering the read window like that.

Ohh, and i think this is post 100 for me.. Yea!

Later!

Chuck

I think the faux convertible is making a comeback - I saw a Buick or some other new cheap American car yesterday with one. It IS a lot of fun to yell to the drivers that they should put their top down on such a nice day. Hopefully the faux spare wheel in the back is a thing of the past.

Chuck,

It looks like you're right. It does look like a targa reskin. It don't remember convertibles tops having such a large surface area in the rear. Someone should ask for more pictures... haha..crycry.

I don't think it's a '72 as the seller stated though. I don't see the oil filler door on right quarter panel, but the picture is pretty bad.

Do some people really pay $300 for a battery?

I thought my Interstate was high at about $110.

No clutch costs 2500$. What a joke. Greatly exaggerated.

It's a coupe. Look at the rain gutter.

It continues as one piece from windscreen right through the door. They just painted it black on the door. The roof line in profile is also a coupe. It looks like they stuffed something under the fabric to fill out the cab shape.

Man you guys are harsh. Am I the only one who was alive in the '80s? In the early '80s I would have considered that car b!tchin.

'cmon admit it. A lot of you guys lusted after that slant nose, boxed rocker look back in the day.

Today I'd feel ridiculous driving it.
