Warmer weather down on power
Recent rebuild and everything has been going good. I drove the car the other day and it was the first time I had driven the car when it was that warm (80+). It felt like I was pulling an anchor, no snap above 4k rpm.

Easy answer is we drive air-cooled cars.
Mine make power when temps are 40-65 degrees. Drive them hard at 80+ degrees, not as much. There can be mechanical reasons, and for those we have very accomplished home and professional mechanics on this board. I'm sure they will chime in.

I drove the car this afternoon it's about 60°F and it ran like a champ.
Is there a sensor for ambient air temperature?

My comments on temperature were about air temps outside.
The cooler the ambient air temp, the better our cars realize their horsepower potential. Sensor for ambient air temperature = outdoor thermometer.

Matt I was thinking maybe it wasn't working right. I don't remember the car doing this before the rebuild, but that was five years ago.

There is an Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor in the the Motronic airflow meter. Sorry, I won't be much help past that. -J

Hi Peppy,
I hope some of the technicians will comment. I was wondering if a vacuum leak could be an issue? If you search "vacuum leaks" you should get a number of threads on checking for this. Never got above 48f here today and my road car loves the low temps. Trying to keep heat in the tires is the concern at these temps. Regards, Matt
