901 Mainshaft intermediate plate bearing

Hi I've just stripped down my 901/13 mag transmission to swap a 5th gear and noticed this on the mainshaft intermediate plate bearing. This is the first transmission I have taken apart, so need a bit of advice please. Is this wear to the bearing or is it how it should be? Many thanks in advance

it's no spring chicken, but still basically ok, but it's a weak link in a 901, so you should replace it "while yer in there".

Many thanks for your reply! So I take it the rough part should be there? These bearings seem incredibly expensive so if it is in ok condition I may just leave it in there for now.

The center cylindrical section is not where the bearings run. They run up on the concave section. What looks "rough" isn't running surface. Only the pitched section matters, and as John said it looks "ok". Post pictures of the bearing itself in the plate for further reveiw.

What looks a bit rough is the gear in the photo. It appears to be damaged from a previous bearing failure.

I really appreciate your comments here! Thank you As Matt says, this more central part doesnt act as a bearing face. Have studdied it more I realise this now. Initially I thought the bearing were completly trashed. I've taken another photo of the bearing and race from the nosecone side of the plate. Again I think this looks ok. Another question..Do I need a tool to reset the selector forks upon reassembly? Cheers
