Another A/C thread
 

I know there are many A/C threads, but I couldn't get any of them to open.
I got my car back from my mechanic today. He put in a completely new Dual-Kuel system. In case you're wondering, yes, it's worth every penny.
My photos didn't all make it, but at the time I measured the A/C vent air, the weather was 110 degrees and sunny.

You can put me down as a big time supporter of Kuehl. Absolutely the best of quality and workmanship, I now have 4 condensers, 3 fans 7 vigorously blowing vents because of the Kuehl Hurricane fan. The performance and comfort both are top notch. I was cruising at 110 degrees sunshine, with a 34 degree air vent temps, on the highway. We'll see next how it performs on a long jaunt through the desert at these same type of temperatures.degrees. and then the real test, 120 degrees sometime between early and late JUly. During the day, the car sits on asphalt, and although I use a good widow visor, as well as tinted windows. Even so, it's going to be a little toasty at5 pm. If this system can cool under those conditions, it will be a work of mechanical art.
I will repost as milestones are achieved.
In the meantime if you want to enjoy your 911 year round in the Sun Belt, cut loose with is really not that much money and have him work a system up for you. The kit totally transforms Porsche 911s enjoyment even in a desert summer Heaven as an AZ winter

How are your engine temps when running the AC?

If his is anything like my Dual Keuhl set-up there is little effect...maybe a needle widths hotter than no a/c...the two additional condensers with integrated fans in the left rear wheel well do the trick...along with the updated condensers in the tail and nose.

Beautiful car, love the colour!

I shudder to think what the interior temps would be without a/c with those ambient temperatures.

Did you put the whole system? All condensers and barrier hoses as well? What year vehicle?

I ran from Phoenix to Tucson and back in the heat of the day yesterday, about 100*, maybe a little more, at about 85-90 mph. Oil temps were at 215*-220*. This was with the Retroaire kit with a PFC decklid condenser, no additional fender condensers. Oil cooler is the 28 tube brass type. Didn't measure vent temps, but stayed nice and cool the whole time.

Don't mean to hijack but I just wrapped up my Kuehl install last week - did it myself except for the evacuation and charging. Temperature the day it was charged wasn't too warm (just under 80) so I've yet to see how it does when it gets really warm, but this was a pretty good sign (crap picture but it's showing about 34 degrees)....

Two thumbs up for Griffiths - excellent product and great service (lots of patience with my noobie questions).

And since my '82 didn't have any markings for the A/C controls, I came up with my own :D

I did install all hoses and condensors. I actually got to 34 on the highway, but shooting photos while traveling at 60 mph is not my forte. I would also like to mention that these temps were at 3/4 fan.
I have an Elephant Racing oil cooler with fan. My temperatures stayed about 2010-220, but it was hot outside.

And thank you on the car. I have always been a white car guy, but when I saw this slate blue metallic, I was sold.

Why is everyone so focussed, fixated, on vent temperatures..?

With a system that ALWAYS operates in recirculate mode vent outflow temperatures are meaningless once the cabin is cooled down to a persons comfort level.

An even lower fan speed would have probably resulted in a fully consistent 34F reading.

My '78, before any A/C mods, would have likely reached the same vent outlet temperature with a consistent 90MPH wind flowing over the front condensor and engine RPM that consistently high.









The real measure of a system's cooling capability is the inlet/outlet DELTA.

Cabin temp when I took the pic was about 85 (heat soaked), took a couple of minutes for the vent temp to get to 34.

LOL, nice. The product and support *are* top-shelf. And the preformance is worth the money spent, IMO. I think it's one of those mods that should add value to all but the cars destined for Pebble Beach.

I see our resident AC threadcrapper has come along to cr@p on the thread.

So - post yours up. At idle. With 90+ ambient temps and full sunshine. Or STFU. *shrug*

GLWT. He has a serious man-crush on Griff. Griff has to post the corrections, lest someone actually think wweird knows anything about AC systems. But the rest of us can using the ignore poster function. Which is awesome, BTW. :)

Yes, just where do you put 4 condensors, hopefully at least one with a fan inlcuded....
