MFI RSR Pump
Found this on my old 911 project...
Donīt worry, I know itīs special but can someone tell me what makes it so special? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1368528121.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1368528202.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1368528325.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1368528358.jpg |
Price an early RSR and then realize a lot of these induction systems were replaced, lost or broken many years ago.....UnObtainium......
|
RSR = "special"
|
Since I have been asked for better pics of the RSR pump...
Voila! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1369135537.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1369135609.jpg Does anybody know how many of these were made? |
"Swedish made performance enhancer" , what a nice piece of equipment Mr Powers!
What I'd like to know is how many variations there are for other makes and applications. Why MFI for Classic Porsche? And when did they stop using them in planes? Or maybe they still do? |
This combination looks like the high butterfly and RSR pump combination as used on an RSR in 1973/1974. The single ignition distributor has little to do with this set. If all this came from the same block I would be curious to know what the size of the intake port side of the manifold is? The red intake trumpets and filter housing is something I have only seen once before: on a prototype car....
|
You could buy a nice 911T driver for what that would sell for to an RSR owner...
|
It looks like it was equipped with an SCRS air cleaner ... short horns inside troughs that accept a stock MFI air cleaner top.

you are correct, well almost. The engine was originally built by Roitmayer for some tall skinny German Rally driver called Walter something as twin spark but the car was sold and the rules changed to Group 4 which didn't allow twin sparks so it was converted to single ignition. Any more info on the prototype? |
Should be a 1974 3.0 RSR engine. The V1077 pump should also have the V109 space cam. The 2.8 RSR had the V94 space cam.

OK..........This is a good example where a fella can use the word "Rare", a few times.

Sorry but I'm having a "hard-on" moment.... there is an old ad on EarlyS for the similar RSR pump for 10K.

Is this filter housing essentially a standard MFI version with the snorkle replaced by a simple screen? Can you cut the snorkle off and add to screen to replicate it? |
that filter arrangement was only used on an SCRS but with a Kugelfischer injection
you can sell the RSR pump and High butterfly to someone like Kevin Jeannette who probably has some cars who deserve it. |
Shaun,
Yes, that is what I did. Shoot me a text tomorrow and I will send you some pics Beautiful MFI setup by the way! |
Shaun,
I built something similar with the plastic filter housing for my high butterfly system. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1521297773.jpg |

Thanks Mark, gorgeous engine! I'm doing a batch of nickel next week but haven't decided which color to Cerakote the pump. I'm considering a lighter color pump and black zinc chromate hardware but I think it might be too reverse video high contrast. Hoping to get it done and everything back to you by the end of the week. Did you use Turbo tensioners with collars? |
Yes turbo tensioners but lots of new chain & I.S. gears left very little room for the collars on the tensioner plunger. I will most likely have more room in a thousand miles or so.
