Has anyone converted the stock wur and throttle position valve over to another wur and eliminated the throttle position sensor? Since both these items are nla and not rebuildable, somebody must be able to clue me in on the secret! Exactly what wur is used and how is it hooked up and what is done to eliminate that throttle position valve?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |

Others will weigh in but search through "JohnWalkersWorkshop" threads. I believe he uses the WUR ending in -009 or perhaps -029 with the vacuum enrichment port that doubles as the throttle pressure sensor thing.

I have a 0 438 140 129 WUR which is the recommended replacement for the original. Eliminating the TPS I have not done. I would think the later 2.7 WUR with vacuum could be substituted to eliminate the Throttle Position Switch, such as the 0 438 140 009. The later 2.7 systems also added a relay so the power to the WUR was better regulated, unlike the 1973.5 which came on right away. The thermo time switch was also added to better regulate the cold star valve. I don't think it would be hard to change to the later components on the 1973, just use the later electrical console and engine wiring harness.
