Recs for Bay Area smog test?

Will anyone recommend a 911-friendly smog test facility in Marin County? (I assume I have to get tested in the county where I reside....)

I've used the facility in Marinwood for all of the tests for my '80 SC for many years; here is the Yelp listing:

Marinwood Smog Check - San Rafael, CA

While I can't say that he is Porsche friendly, he is fair; you want to make sure that you ask for a pre-test.

What is the year of your 911? Did it pass two years ago? How is it running? What are your concerns?

Hey, it's an 83. When I bought it three years ago it passed easily. It has been non-op while I fixed up the motor. I'm using the original P&Cs and rings but went with the 964 cam. Otherwise, it's stock. (Bypass pipe will go back on after the test.) It runs great, at least over the 45 miles since te rebuild.

I don't have specific concerns, but I thought it would be better if the guy had seen a few of these cars before.

The SC sounds sweet! Best to drive it hard prior to the test and properly get it up to operating temp and see if the pre-test will give you the thumbs up.

I believe that he has seen a number of 911s so unless anyone else provides an alternative, you should give him a go.

Alternatively, you could call S-Car-Go and ask who they prefer to use.

Anywhere in CA should be fine.

If you Google Charles Rosignol, a solid Porsche mechanic in SF, he can tell you who he uses.

My 911 didn't pass until the third try and they only charged something like $58.
