How do these plugs look to you guys?

Just doing an ignition tune up. They look normal, though they have yellow on the tips. Am I running lean?

looks like they have a LOT of miles on them.

they look pretty consistant except #4. might be a tad lean. maybe an air leak. but again, a lot of miles. other than that, dont see signs of oil, so that is good. i would not worry.

pull the new plugs after a 100 miels or so, then after about 500 miles.
i would do check after a full red line run and shut it down before it idles.

on the new plugs, look at the ground strap.. there should be a line kid of like on #3 and #6. thats your timing.
what the heat range on the plugs?

Insulator leg brown/rust color looks normal. Yellowing tips could be caused by various additives.

@ $2.75 per shiny new ones are definately recommended

That's one hell of a gap, MSD?

Yes, MSD. Just replaced all with new Bosch/Beru stuff. Didn't make much of a difference performancewise, sadly. But I haven't driven it yet... just idled.

Fyi, lean is pure white, all of it. Sorry no pic of the burned valves either.

I gotta say...the toughest part of the whole thing was getting the plug wire onto #2. I could NOT find the hole. (That's what he said...) :P

that is a big gap. i would close it up some.

you wont see a "performance" increase with a MSD unless it is fixing something that was below par. not to say the MSD is bad, i have one in my 930. but for a stock engine or even with some mods, you wont gain any HP over the bosch unit. both are very good units.
close that gap.

With MSD? It looks like Steve Weiner recommends .045-.050, so I might give that a shot.
