Emergency Brake assembly removal

I want to remove the parking brake handle assembly (beneath the auto heat console).

Do I have to disassemble the emergency brakes (for the cable) at the rear wheels first to get some slack? (and probably the flapper box connections too?)

Bentley shows the removal - it is probably at the of the section on mechanical brakes for a reason.

I am trying to get clear access to the tunnel for my fuel line replacement. It's like a series of mini-projects to build my character one doh! at a time. I was prepared for everything else except messin' with the brakes (lines/calipers/drums).

Thanks

i was able to disconnect cables at the hand brake end. it is easier if you remove passenger seat so you have room to see/work.

Removing the seat would make life easier and protect it - will do that and come back.

Thanks shum'

PS -
like others before me, my project is cascading from one discreet job into another.
This started as a rear bushing job.
Spring plates went to be plated yesterday (clean, plate, chromate, heat treat).
Rear sway bar went to the powder coater, and I replaced the CHT sensor.
CVs / boots are beckoning.

replacing those lines is not exactly fun. I removed both seats, the shift housing, heater levers, and pushed the shift rod to one side to make room. You might have to disconnect the clutch cable too, depending on your situation.

Drivers side seat is out.
This allowed me to remove the pin / clip from the e-brake to the transversely mounted bracket that pulls the brakes cables.
The heater lines are wired to the lever - no quick disconnect.

Can I unbolt the clutch cylinder at the pedal cluster? I am hoping I don't have to undo the fluid line.

rusnak - yes, I was resigned to doing this, so in for a penny...
I have been concentrating to making a clear path, but from what quick looks I have seen, it looks like the fuel lines have their own protected channel in the tunnel. I am hoping the pull goes well. Shift housing is already out.

Tomorrow I will get under her and drop the belly pan and remove the last 2 bolts for the pedal cluster, support the trans, and remove the trans mount. The rear sway was already off.
