Top end rebuild.
Yep I' had a quick look but can‘t find the quick answer. I think I will do a top end rebuild and replace the valve guides, any Brocken studs, and may be rings if they need it. Plus tappets. When i do the valve guides will I need to take the heads in to a workshop and have them removed and the new ones put in or is this some thing I can do.? If the springs and there are no Brocken scuds what earls is there to do?.
Thanks Steve. |

You have to have the guides done at a reputable machine shop. They're pressed out then the new guides are pressed in then the valve seats are machined and centered and new seals installed.

You will need some special tools to set up your cams, etc.
Given divilar studs are in your car, you may want to replace them with inexpensive "all thread" studs. I seriously doubt you will need new rings for a street car unless you have extremely high mileage. You may need some new valves if they are worn on the stem too much. Machine shop will help you with that. You will need special sealants to install the cam towers. New chains and ramps are an option. Read a whole lot. It's relatively easy but you want to take the correct action.
