Carrera clutch adjustment- easy?
I had to replace the cast aluminum part (on the underside of the tranny) that holds the clutch cable and possible changed the adjustment when refitting it!(about 6 months ago).
Either that or I have worn out a clutch in about 20-30K miles!. The engdgement point is almost at the top of the pedal travel. I am about to drive NY- FL and do not wish to have slippage problems en route! ![]() Is this and easy job or should I take it to a garage?. (PS my axle stands are in FL ![]() Any advice appreciated. Yes, it's pretty easy. You need to take up a few centimeters of cable slack, it sounds like.
Consult the Bentley book or even the Haynes manual for the actual measurements; you essentially have to adjust the two nuts on the transmission where the clutch cable attaches. You can also adjust the free play on the lever itself, and adjust the fork on the end of the cable in the cabin. None of it is terribly hard and you can do it all with basic hand tools. You'll be adjusting free play, pedal travel, cable travel, and cable length. 2 hours work maximum; I could probably do it in 30 minutes now that I know where everything is. Thanks Mark,
I do have the Bentleys and will have a bash at it. You guys sometimes make things easier than the manuals, also a time and difficulty factor is always appreciated!. Will have a go at it on Sunday night before I depart south on Monday!. Rgds Ben |

I am pretty sure that there is a good Pelican Parts tech article on clutch cable replace which includes clutch adjustment.
