Carlisle pa car show report: P-replicas etc
Flew up today in AM just for a few hours to check out the show.. (ceilings at 7K and closing all day..) ..billed as Replica and kit car extravaganza..not that bad... the Early P-replicas are really amazing in quality and detail. Check out the 917 rep.. amazing replete with carbon fiber flat fan..... More so are the Cobra's. There clearly is a good market and tremendous competition in this space.. The Cobra Coupe Reps were spectacular.... There was also a car show ... but very few real p-cars ... a few 914s.. 2 "well setup 944s" They were sandwiched between a slew of vintage Opels , a Bricklin (!) and some nasty looking early Saabs. THe french contingent was rounded out with a requisite citroen, some sappy rally renaults from back in the day..and one hapless peugot .... The Brit vintage stuff was extremely well represented ... how many deathh trap bugeye sprites, MGs , TR6s and spitfires can one see along with a huge host of aging parts for sale....many of which have clearly made this trip before... i will certainly have nightmares tonite about bin upon bin of old british car wiring harnesses....each comes with a free bottle of blue smoke as it frys in front of you upon turning the key.... btw the Austin healey Mkii was claimed to have 86K original miles and the guy wanted 48K for it...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? not even restored..are theses things that valuable?

ERA's green 289 FIA w/hardtop and yellow sash stripe was well done, John Steele's coupe is nice, but why not include Chuck Becks's 904; a great job by true a super talented legend in Porsche replicas @ 3.4 secs 0-60 MPH W/3.6, it was probably faster and more desirable than any Cobra replica on display!!
