Spoiler protection skid plates...

I just received them from Pelican, thanks. There are no instructions issued with these.
It appears straightforward enough (not rocket science...). There are 4 skid aluminum plates, presumable they are mounted 2 by 2, with the provided 6 bolts (3 holes in skid plates) onto the tow hook brackets.
Problem is, my ROW Carrera has only one tow hook bracket: on the driver's side. Is this normal for there to be only ONE (front) tow hook bracket? Or do the US Carrera's have two tow hook brackets?
Would I then have to obtain a second one and weld that onto the ...I think it's the wishbone (torsion bar?)... or would mounting just one skid plate provide sufficient front spoiler saving protection? (which I guess not..)

I think that's normal.

My RoW SC has two, well 2/3 on each side from years of protecting the chin.

I would expect you to have 2, but maybe RoW is different.

Cool

I have 2

They're a bit twisted up now with the skid plates also twisted. I really beat the ***** out of them on my last big ride. I'm very happy I had them installed.
I fell victum of watching street traffic while leaving a strange town's gas pump and slamming them a few times on the station's driveway to street area. Mostly my fault.

I bought a 3/8 sheet of aluminum & am making 3.5 sets of my own for about $20. The only difference is mine will only use 2 bolts instead of 3 & will not have the little tits on the ends. Paul, are you sure they're aluminum?

I’ve thought about these but I would want to retain the tow eyes, you never know when you might need them. Hmmm, new project?

Only 1 tow eye on my car. Anyone have a pic of these mounted? Am having trouble seeing what it's meant to do.

Speaking of these tow hooks, my '89 has two (one on each side) and I need to replace them.

Does anyone know where to get them? Mine got wiped out:

man Crachian! Your car looks like nostatic's in front. Did you hit a chunk of K-barrier too?

my whole bar ripped off...looks like the hook just snapped right off of yours. I've seen them ground and bent, but never sheared like that. What's the story behind that photo?

By the way, be careful if you install those tow-hook protectors. (I have them on my car.) I have a feeling that Porsche meant those towhooks to be self-sacrificing, and if you put those big steel plates in the towhooks and then whack something hard with them, you're going to do far more permanant damage than you would have by letting the original towhooks flex, bend or wear away. So if they're in there, you _don't_ want to hit anything hard with the "spoiler protectors" or you'll instead have "bellypan benders." Do carry the tools to remove them if you need to use the towhooks someday, and if you need to do so on a dark and rainy night while the flatbed awaits, you'll wish you never put them in in the first place..

when I got flatbedded, they couldn't use the front towhooks (since they were destroyed). They managed to yank it up the ramp just fine.

Having been in an industry closely affiliated with the professional towing industry, I've seen many tow drivers that really know their business and take pride in doing it right. That said, in the unfortunate instance that you need one, watch where and how they attach the "J" hooks to your car to pull it up on the rollback. Some don't care, and do much suspension damage in a short time. Watch very carefully, if possible!

I bought the same skid plates, I also have a Euro with only one tow hook and it is different from the USA ones so the plates wouldnt work anyways.
