Help with Koni strut insert for a 75
I have a 75 911S with the Boge housings. They have Koni inserts that are shot, part # 82R-1943. Nobody sells those anymore, but the Koni's Pelican has, 86-1647, say they are for Boge housings years 69-74. They look the same as mine, but everywhere I look it says only good up to 74. So what's the difference, and does Koni not make a insert for Boge housings 75 and up? Thx, Bill

I knew somebody would say that,
![]() I loved the ride/handling setup I had on my 67 and trying emulate that here. TB's 26r, 19f, sways 18 rear with 22 front adjustable, with Koni classics two clicks off firm in rear, full soft up front. It was flat and neutral at the autox but rode so nice on the road.

Post a shot of your strut. Does your car have alloy brake calipers?
There have been different nuts at the top of the strut used by Boge and Koni. That is the main difference between the struts (Boge). When I put Koni inserts in my '73 Koni struts, I had to order a special nut to hold them in. Also, I would strongly suggest getting the externally adjustable Koni inserts. Not any more expensive and you will be glad of the easy ajustablilty.

Gordon, it has steel calipers. I think the initial compression on the externally adjustable Koni sports is firmer than reds, and that part isn't adjustable. My preference is to try and replace these Koni classics, but if the new ones won't fit got with Bilstein HD's front and Sports rear.

I think you would be OK with the new Konis. The ones you have don't have the nut as part of the strut. Since you have the nut already, you should be good to go. The Reds I see listed here on Pelican look to be the correct ones.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/KON861647.htm?pn=KON-86-1647&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0oKOqrHF5wIVgobACh07eQd5EAQYAiAB EgJZlPD_BwE BTW, At full soft, the yellow Konis are pretty soft, IMO. Also the compression is actually adjustable, but much less than the rebound. I have read about 1/3. I find it helpful to be able to quickly adjust my shocks at an auto cross to account for the course and track conditions. Probably doesn't make any difference, but the caliper mount on an S should be 3,5". Reason I ask is according to my info the 75 S should have had the alloy caliper. But who knows.
