Unhappy alternator wiring

I know, I know, mark all your wires before disconnecting... but I just rebuilt my 77' 3.0, and my wiring notes went bye bye, after 6 months of playing with the rebuld. Can anyone tell my which wire goes where on my alternator?

I think #1 is RED, 2 is BLUE? and 3 is BROWN. 4 is N/A? But I still have a BLACK wire, and the ground stap... Grond strap from housing to case?

Thanks guys!

Porsche Crest My alternator looks different on my

79SC but I'll try to help since I just removed mine yesterday. I don't see any markings on your alternator but if you can find them, the sequence is :

Blue wire on +61

Tan wire on D- next to the +61 connector

Double red wire (10mm nut) on B+ (on other side of +61 connector)

Three small tan wires on D- next to the other D- (there are two D- connectors on my alternator). I'll bet one is what you are calling case ground.

My DF connector is black and is a push on that connects to the plastic piece at the bottom.

There is no dedicated case ground wire, but based on the attached article, D- also connects to the alternator frame. The alternator troubleshooting article is attached. Maybe this will also help you figure it out. By the way, I did a hand drawn sketch years ago and scanned it into my computer.

Good Luck.

I took another look and the D+ , B+ , and +61 connectors all have insulators under them.

The D- does not, so is grounded to the case. I verified this with my ohmeter. Yours should be the same, now you just need to distinguish the above three.

I see a 61, and I see a -, and I am sure of the B+, but I need to look again for where the black goes... Thanks for your help.
