how to tell year model of 3.0 I recently purchased an engine on ebay that says it was an 81 3.0. I'm beginning to believe that this is NOT an 81, but rather and 80. Is their any other way to tell what year this engine is? the number on the side of the fan housing is broken off. The only other number I could find was 911 107 041 00 on the back of the engine. According to Rennlist, the 1981 had steel hoses to the injectores, 1980 still was using plastic. This engine has plastic. Help! feeling ripped off. |

The number you supplied is a partnumber for the cover or case you took it from. With no Serial # there should be a number stamped on the engine case just past the fan brace number. It should be 930/16 for a 1981 and 930/07 for the 1980. But don't feel too ripped off it is a 1980. The US engines are the same Now if you bought a euro spec engine then you should feel ripprd off. The 1980(930/09) is speced at 188hp, the 1981 euro (930/10) puts out 204 hp. Hope yhis helps. |
