In some sense they are correct. Selling the fender mounted condensor/fan rather than adding rear lid condensor cooling fans eliminates the possible liability for engine damage blame, FALSE blame.

WWest,
I have been following your posts regarding AC -- and your anti-God stance in the face of relentless negativity, slap-downs and voices from the experts. And, I am intrigued -- mostly from a behavioral standpoint.

I can easily identify with your stance that a lot of the world is full of false claims that get promoted and perpetuated for idiotic reasons -- only to be proven that they were false years later.

I also agree that you do not have to have installed AC's into 100 Porsches to be able to say that "the Emperor has no clothes," for those of you who remember the story.

However, do you really think that you are on solid grounds regarding your AC advice, or are you just enjoying the skirmishing? Sometimes Fox News and Rush Limbaugh just relish dreaming up conspiracy theories, because there will always be someone who will believe them.

I'd like to know, because I will be revising my AC unit, and I don't want to fall for the "...because everyone else does it that way...", nor do I want to be one of those looking for a conspiracy by the AC dealers.

You can PM me if you want. What's your background??

I am still curious about the box contraption housing the oil cooler and fan in the nose.
Anyone have something similar??[/QUOTE]

I had a very similar setup on my 84 club racer only w/o any fans. My "box" was similar to yours and I had no temp problems on the track and the A/C worked as good as it ever did. Unfortunately, that was 15+ years ago and I don't have any pics.

Bob,
thanks. Good input. I think I will take off the puller fan inside the box, but keep the 2 pusher fans up front, to at least help with air flow over the condenser.
I imagine that you did not have an AC condenser up front, being that you tracked the car?

More like historical reasons, pertinent back then, not now.

only to be proven that they were false years later.

Not, never false, just bypassed by time, ideas, technological improvements, etc, etc.

Yes. With regards to the major shortcoming being the need to improve refrigerant cooling efficiency.

Yes, on the matter of the use of the trinary switch's extra function to control condensor cooling fans, even "after-run".

Not so sure regarding the issue of non-barrier hose but the logic, based on factual information, primarily the SAE and EPA, is sound.

"..conspiracy by the A/C dealers..."

Conspiracy, NO. Just individual self-interest, self-preservation, self-justification.....

I did have A/C. I still drove the car to work occasionally and you need A/C here in Memphis. I had a long European style license plate that covered the hole in the bumper for the street and i never had issues even in trafiic. I don't remember what you said about the fender cooler, but mine was still in place and the front cooler was piped in series with it.
