Window Removal
Good morning all.
Am looking for a good guide and advice (other than avoiding it at all costs lol) for removing the window regulator, frame, glass, etc. Basically have to disassemble the entire door, R&R all components, mostly cleaning, and remove all trim I have the 101 projects book and it gives great advice on the regulator, but I am having a problem with the actual window frame itself. I'm thinking once all the bolts are removed I can pull it straight up and out, but it seems stuck. Is is just glued in the front 1/4 window, or am I missing something? Plan to do in order: frame - pull up from top window - pull up from top regulator - unbolt and remove from below Is on a 76 manual crank Thanks! |

IIRC there is a bolt on the bottom of the front rail (which will be in the middle of the door) that is easy to miss. Once this is out, the frame should pull straight up. If the frame has never been out, it will probably need some persuasion. There may also be some type of sealant at the wing window; try a putty knife carefully to break that seal. It's been a while since I have done this, so anyone please correct me if I remember wrong.

Did you remove the 2 bolts in the front of the door behind the plastic plugs?

This is one active board! took me a while to find my post. I've shopped on Pelican, but not used boards too much. Tons of info.
Thanks for the reply's. IRRC, I pulled two bolts top front, one top middle, one top back and one bottom back. Seems to be hanging up in the front, will try to loosen with a putty knife, maybe use a heat gun to soften things. |

Should be two top and one bottom on the rear of the door.
Did you get the bottom center of the door (attaches the window track to the door)?
